Once Upon A Time:

Yes, ok, I know—title with high mileage, but it’s a good one. And it’s true. I often think I know stuff, but here I am, some unmentionable number of years later, realizing how much I didn’t know. Life has a way of humbling you like that. It’s a reminder that I’m always progressing, accumulating, learning.

So, once upon a time, I planned to write a book. I was going to call it Into the Wind, because I thought growth meant finding something to push against—like turning your boat into the wind. It’s not always the fastest way forward, but it’s often the one full of unknowns, raising your alertness and forcing you to adapt.

Now, though, I see that’s just one possibility. Even as someone who loves to push, I’ve realized that’s too much sometimes. I’ve learned I can let my curiosity guide me into calmer but still new places or experiences. Breaking out of the norm doesn’t have to be hard; it just needs to be intentional. The unconscious route always seems to lead to the tried and true—familiar territory, the well-worn path.

So now, I’m looking for a new title.
